2015 was a good year at the Roguelike Gallery. Two new games were added, and one of them was quickly beaten. Many new high scores have been set. The site has survived its sixth year of existence on an Internet where lifespans can often be measured in weeks.
Here is a list of things I intend to do in 2016.
I need to make some improvements to the infrastructure. The Web player needs to be capable of starting and restarting automatically, to avoid long periods of downtime. I have a solution which is still being tested.
A build for Windows is almost ready for release. It ought to be done sometime in January.
There are still plans to hold a tournament early this year. First I want to add the capability to send messages in the Web player.
I also hope to get UltraRogue online. That will finish the list of early roguelikes. Next I want to move on past 1985 and make available other branches of the roguelike family tree.
It would also be nice if someone retrieved the Amulet of Yendor in one of the original Rogue versions. But I'll leave that task to the players.
